Notice 12, QuestionsLast true on

Every answer here is true today. The product is not open yet, so each one says what is built and what is not.

What NewsEnough is

It is a daily news brief for people who have stopped reading the news. Each morning it gives the day in one sentence, the Line, and a short brief of three to six items across World, Country and Near you. Each item says what it means for you and cites its source. When you reach the end, it says you are up to speed.

When it opens

It is not open yet, and there is no launch date to give. Leave your email address on the home page and the first Line arrives the morning it opens. You confirm the address by email first, and nothing else is sent to it.

What it costs

The Line, the Brief and the weekly edition are free. Plus is built and is not on sale yet. It is priced at £3.99 a month or £29 a year, and it adds breadth, memory and convenience. It does not change a word of any item. The Plus page sets out the difference.

Where Near you works

Near you is built and starts with councils in the West Midlands. It finds your area from your postcode. Outside those councils, the Brief starts at Country.

What happens to a postcode

It is used once, to find your area, and it is not kept. Giving one is optional. What is kept is your area, not the postcode. The privacy notice states what is held about an account.

Whether it stores articles

No. No outlet's article text is stored, in any form, at any stage. Items are written from original public documents, and every item cites its source. The register of what is read is published, with what is refused beside it.

Who checks each day

A day goes out only after a named editor signs it off. No editor has been appointed yet, so the Line is off and nothing is sent. If an item is later found to be wrong, the correction is published in the corrections log and stays there.

Getting it on a phone

The apps are built. They are not in the stores yet, so there is nothing to download. In the apps the Line arrives as a notification at a time you choose, and a home-screen widget goes still once you have read. The Line is also built for email, for Telegram and, as a small capped trial, for WhatsApp. None of those is switched on.

Asking about a story

Yes, once it opens. The answer starts at the beginning of the story and every sentence is cited. Where we do not hold enough, it says so rather than writing around the gap.

What you can do about an item

Where an item has a planning application or a consultation behind it, it can draft a neutral response. You read it, change it and send it yourself. Nothing is sent for you. This is built on the web and it is free.
